ABOUT THE ROLE

This role requires a meticulous, proactive professional to navigate the complexities of regulatory compliance for food supplements in both UK and EU. You will act as a bridge between regulatory frameworks and internal stakeholders to support product lifecycle compliance, risk management, and business growth.

Technical & Regulatory Compliance

  • Provide detailed regulatory guidance and technical support for internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and ensure timely updates to business practices.
  • Contribute to regulatory risk assessments and decision-making for product compliance.
  • Coordinate and manage product approvals and schedule updates with the Soil Association.

Artwork, Claims & Labelling Compliance

  • Manage label creation, review, and updates, ensuring compliance with UK and EU regulations.
  • Review and approve product claims, marketing materials, and front-of-pack messaging.
  • Coordinate translation projects for labelling and marketing materials.
  • Ensure consistency through internal Labelling Guidelines and best practices.

New Product Development (NPD)

  • Validate compliance of formulas in the UK and EU, including ingredient legality and dosage limits.
  • Validate product positioning, claims, and regulatory acceptability prior to launch. Oversee sales banners and front-panel compliance.

Support for Import/Export Logistics

  • Provide technical advice on Products of Animal Origin (POAO) and composite goods.
  • Support import and export logistics by providing commodity codes.

Training & Documentation

  • Collaborate on creating Labelling Guidelines to ensure cohesive and consistent product representation.
  • Support internal training and knowledge sharing to strengthen regulatory awareness across the business.

Ad Hoc Support

  • Perform additional regulatory or technical tasks as required to support business goals.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Qualification in Food Technology, Food Law, Food Science, Food Safety, or a related subject matter.
  • Strong understanding of regulations regarding food supplements and usage of claims in the EU and UK.
  • Experience with product specifications, formulations, and labelling compliance. Good understanding of food industry standard practices.
  • Experience with Amazon or e-commerce platforms is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and effective time management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across different departments (e.g., NPD, QA, Design) to ensure business needs are met.
  • Experience with food supplement product notification processes in EU Member States is desirable.
  • Experience in cosmetics regulatory landscape is desirable.
