Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic Clinical Technologist to lead the nuclear medicine service across the North East sector of Glasgow, based primarily at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The service includes state‑of‑the‑art SPECT‑CT imaging, cell labelling, DXA and benign therapy administration. The role involves training of clinical technologists under the IPEM scheme and working across the sector (Stobhill Hospital and Glasgow Royal Infirmary).
Duration, Location and Working Pattern
- Location: Glasgow Royal Infirmary
- Contract: Permanent
- Hours: Full‑time (36 hours per week)
- Shift pattern: Monday – Friday, 0830‑1700
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in senior management meetings (monthly) including presentation of work.
- Organise, coordinate and participate in the day‑to‑day work of the technologist/radiographer team according to departmental policies and procedures.
- Adjust staff duties and rota to cover annual leave and sick leave, including bone density service.
- Assist in formulating standard operating procedures, with particular responsibility for technical operating procedures.
- Act as deputy control book holder; uphold health and safety responsibilities.
- Work cooperatively with staff of other disciplines to optimise nuclear medicine service.
- Undertake technologist and clerical PDP.
- Coordinate in‑house training programmes and record‑keeping for all staff groups within the department.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Honours Degree in a relevant science or technology subject, or BSc (Hons) in Radiography, or equivalent training.
- Registration on the IPEM Register for Clinical Technologists, AHCS Register, or as a Radiographer with the HCPC.
- Familiarity with the physics of radiation protection and relevant legislation (IRR 2017, IRMER 2017, also EA(S)R 2018).
- Good understanding of general Nuclear Medicine and SPECT‑CT, including anatomy, physiology and disease processes sufficient to interpret diagnostic tests.
Desirable
- High level of experience communicating with technical, clinical and other staff groups.
- Experience presenting developments/research at scientific meetings.
- Membership of IPEM at an appropriate level.
- Previous experience with Radiology and Patient Information Systems.
