Development Chemist – Homecare & FMCGThetford


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Development Chemist to join a fast-growing, highly innovative manufacturing business in the FMCG and homecare sector.

This role would suit a hands-on development chemist with strong formulation experience who enjoys taking ownership of projects from concept through to launch in a fast-paced commercial environment.


The Role

You will play a key role in driving product innovation and continuous improvement across a varied portfolio of liquid cleaning and homecare products. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will support the development, optimisation, and launch of new and existing formulations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and reformulate products within the homecare / FMCG sector
  • Carry out formulation trials, benchmarking, and performance testing
  • Support manufacturing scale-up and production trials
  • Drive cost optimisation and continuous product improvement
  • Work closely with Quality, Operations, and Commercial teams
  • Ensure products meet relevant regulatory and performance requirements
  • Support claims substantiation and technical documentation


Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience in formulation or development chemistry
  • Background within FMCG, chemicals, detergents, homecare, personal care, cosmetics, or related industries
  • Experience developing liquid formulations is highly desirable
  • Degree qualified in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline
  • Strong project management and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
