Salary: £51,356 – £54,495 (pay award pending Market Supplement)

Role Overview

As part of the Social Care, Education & Safeguarding team, you will manage a range of legal matters across child care, adult social care and education. You will provide timely, business‑focused advice to the social care and education teams and support the Council’s legal strategy.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Recognised legal qualification as a Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive, with a litigation and advocacy certificate.
  • Substantial post‑qualification experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including drafting complex legal documentation and providing advice under tight deadlines.
  • Strong collaborative approach and proven ability to build effective relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team while handling an active caseload using a proactive, problem‑solving approach.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent systems (e.g., G Suite, Mosaic).
  • Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle, as regular travel across the borough is required.
  • Commitment to making reasonable adjustments in line with the Equality Act.
