Overview
Amazon is seeking an Indirect Tax Senior Manager to join the EMEA Tax Department based in London or Luxembourg to support the Amazon Web Services (“AWS”) cloud computing business, focusing on VAT advisory.
Key responsibilities
- Provide indirect tax support for AWS branded services (Cloud + Marketplace) and other AWS Group entities, such as Annapurna Labs.
- Advise on new ventures, products, and geographic expansion.
- Help the business identify and solve new problems and pain points raised by customers.
- Pro‑actively communicate changes in law and new opportunities to stakeholders.
- Consider all aspects of business – pricing, user interface, billing, communication, FAQs, etc.
- Support the supply‑infrastructure supply chain from chip design to server‑rack installation.
- Participate in public consultations on tax policy, e‑invoicing, and other indirect‑tax matters.
- Work closely with compliance colleagues on high‑level tax‑return reviews, audits, and process improvements.
Qualifications
Basic qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or relevant business qualification (eg Chartered Tax Adviser, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience/qualification with tax authorities.
- Excellent knowledge of VAT in EU/UK with advisory experience.
- Experience working in a multinational indirect‑tax function, law/accountancy firm, or tax authority involved with cross‑border transactions.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience managing multiple, competing priorities.
- Experience in project management and independent work.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to understand processes and systems.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity.
- Quick learner with a positive “can do” attitude and solid professionalism.
