The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join a dynamic infrastructure and structural repair team. This position is pivotal in securing and delivering complex projects across bridges, highways, and reinforced concrete structures.

You will lead the estimating function on key bids, ensuring accurate, competitive, and commercially sound submissions, while collaborating closely with operational and commercial teams. The role offers a flexible hybrid working model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions
  • Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and tender documents
  • Develop competitive pricing strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Collaborate with engineering, commercial, and delivery teams
  • Obtain and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions
  • Prepare and present tender adjudications to senior stakeholdersMonitor market trends, material costs, and supply chain factors
  • Support the production of technical and commercial bid documentation
  • Drive continuous improvement in estimating processes and systems

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in an estimating role within civil engineering or infrastructure
  • Strong background in bridges, highways, or concrete structural repair
  • Solid understanding of construction methods and cost planning
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Highly numerate and commercially aware
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and tight deadlines

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline
  • Experience delivering estimates on complex or high-value infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with NEC or other standard forms of contract
