We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Senior Technical Operations Engineer to take ownership of critical infrastructure platforms, enhance operational maturity, and drive continuous improvements across our technology estate. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving ability, and the confidence to influence design decisions while supporting and mentoring others.

Key Responsibilities

Firewall & Perimeter Security

  • Own and manage firewall platforms (FortiGate or equivalent preferred)
  • Configure and maintain firewall rule bases
  • Perform patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management
  • Design and support site-to-site and remote access VPNs
  • Implement and manage high availability, clustering, and failover
  • Troubleshoot complex connectivity and security policy issues

Identity & Access Platforms

  • Administer and optimise Active Directory (including Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and replication)
  • Understand identity flows across on-premises, cloud, and SaaS environments
  • Ensure alignment between identity, network controls, and access policies

Modern Access & Control Planes

  • Manage and support Microsoft 365 tenant environments
  • Implement security and access control strategies (Intune, Conditional Access, Entra ID, Hybrid AD)
  • Support modern access models integrating endpoints and identity-driven policies

Broader Operational Capability

While maintaining deep expertise in core areas, you will also demonstrate strong working knowledge across a wider technical landscape:

  • AWS infrastructure (EC2, load balancers, security best practices, cost optimisation)
  • Windows and Linux server environments
  • Virtualisation platforms (VMware and/or Xen)
  • Monitoring and observability tools (e.g., PRTG, Zabbix)
  • Core networking principles (routing and switching)
  • SAN storage and datacentre infrastructure
  • Endpoint security, patching, and operational best practices
  • Documentation, structured change management, and incident communication
