Job Description
WSP is seeking a mechanical design engineer for the Rail environment. The role involves interpreting client specifications, designing pipework, ventilation, and heating systems, and selecting plant and equipment according to design outputs.
Responsibilities
- Interpretation of client specification requirements in the development of designs.
- Design of pipework including heating, cooling, hot and cold water systems.
- Design of ventilation systems including general ventilation systems.
- Selection of plant and equipment items based upon designs produced, including but not limited to air handling units, fans, pumps, pressurisation units, boilers, heat emitters, chillers, ductwork and ductwork ancillaries, pipework and pipework ancillaries.
Qualifications
- Experience of mechanical design in the rail environment.
- Qualifications meeting the requirements for chartership with a UK Engineering Institution.
Working Knowledge
- Design of above‑ground plumbing and waste systems.
- Design of rainwater disposal systems.
- Design of drainage systems.
- Requirements of Network Rail and/or London Underground standards.
- Design of controls/BMS for mechanical systems.
