Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer / Engineering Geologist

A great opportunity for an experienced Geoenvironmental Engineer or Engineering Geologist to step into a senior role, leading site investigations and delivering technically strong, high-quality projects across the UK.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of projects from initial design through to delivery — managing site investigations, mentoring junior staff, and acting as a key point of contact for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, manage, and supervise ground investigations
  • Cost projects and coordinate subcontractors
  • Attend site to oversee investigations and assessments
  • Produce interpretative geotechnical and geoenvironmental reports
  • Undertake and review GQRA (human health, ground gas, controlled waters)
  • Supervise foundations, earthworks, remediation, and validation works
  • Prepare Health & Safety documentation and ensure compliance
  • Lead site meetings and liaise with clients
  • Mentor and support junior team members

Requirements

  • Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ UK experience in contaminated land and ground investigation
  • Strong understanding of UK regulatory guidance
  • Experience delivering geoenvironmental and geotechnical projects
  • Knowledge of GQRA and foundation assessment
  • Coal mining investigation/remediation experience (desirable)
  • Experience with Openground, AutoCAD, or QGIS (desirable)
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Working towards Chartered status (or already Chartered)
  • Full UK driving licence
