Job Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and conscientious Operational Support Manager to join our multidisciplinary teams across Gynaecology, Reproductive Medicine and Sexual Health. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a fast‑paced and complex clinical environment. You will support the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centred services while contributing to the achievement of key operational performance targets.

Main Duties

  • Support delivery of key performance standards, including RTT, cancer pathways and diagnostics.
  • Lead the day‑to‑day operational management of outpatient, inpatient and specialist services, including the Jefferiss Wing Sexual Health service.
  • Manage and develop administrative teams across multiple sites.
  • Oversee patient pathways, ensuring efficient booking, clinic utilisation and data quality.
  • Drive improvements in patient experience, including managing queries, complaints and incident investigations.
  • Lead and support service improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and performance.
  • Work closely with clinical, nursing and operational colleagues to ensure safe, effective service delivery.

Person Specification

Education

  • Ordinary or Honours Bachelor’s Degree level or equivalent* level of knowledge through experience or specialist training.

Experience

  • Operational, service, and administrative management experience.
  • Managing teams, guiding and supporting staff through mentorship and coaching, and supervising their performance, engaging in recruitment and retention initiatives.
  • Handling complex people issues including performance, sickness and conduct.
  • Handling complaints, incidents and sensitive issues.
  • Chairing meetings and presenting to senior stakeholders (desirable).
  • Working within budgets and resource planning (desirable).
  • Experience of working in healthcare (desirable).

Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to create high‑performing, inclusive and engaged teams through compassionate, visible and values‑based leadership.
  • Ability to lead through influence, coaching and role‑modeling.
  • Ability to develop teams, manage performance effectively, and delegate tasks appropriately to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Ability to use NHS platforms such as Cerner and QlikView to support safe and efficient service delivery.
