Reports into: Level 1 network ops engineer team leader
Location: Hybrid – working from home and nominated hub office. Hubs: London, Bristol, Manchester, Oxford.
Valid full UK driving licence required.
About the role
This role offers a structured 4‑on, 4‑off shift pattern (two days followed by two nights, 07:00–19:00/19:00–07:00), giving predictable rotation and a clear work‑life balance. You’ll be part of our Ops Desk, working closely with our 2nd and 3rd line teams. The Ops Desk is responsible for proactive monitoring and fault resolution. Within this team, you’ll take ownership of 1st line activities across our network, security, and cloud products, playing a key role in keeping our services running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Proactively monitor customer networks via our internal monitoring system, investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving issues
- Provide incident management and technical resolution of 1st‑line network and security related faults and prompt escalation to 2nd line when required
- Accept, agree and carry out tasks assigned by the team leader as related to the team’s primary objectives
- Provide end‑to‑end incident management throughout the incident lifecycle
Key skills and experience
- Valid full UK driving licence and willingness to travel and work away from the base location – at times, out of normal working hours
- Vendor equivalent qualification such as Juniper/Cisco/Security Associate (preferred)
- Active use of corporate systems
- Ability to present complex information to both technical and non‑technical audiences, and facilitate collaboration between stakeholders sharing common objectives
- Fully understands the importance of security to own work and the operation of the organisation. Seeks specialist security knowledge or advice when required to support own work or work of immediate colleagues
