Purpose of Role
VINCI Facilities are recruiting a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join the onsite engineering team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich. This is a permanent, full-time role supporting a live healthcare environment, offering the opportunity to work on a wide range of building services systems while developing technical skills through structured training and support.
The successful candidate will be mechanically biased, have experience within building services or facilities management, and be keen to continue learning within a highly regulated hospital setting.
Job Description
Working as part of the onsite engineering team, the Mechanical Engineer will support the delivery of planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across the hospital estate. The role is site-based and plays a key part in ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant operation of critical building services systems.
This position suits an engineer with a solid mechanical foundation who is comfortable operating in a busy, compliance-driven environment and is motivated to develop their career within healthcare facilities management.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance tasks across the hospital estate
- Work on mechanical plant including air handling units, pumps, fans and associated systems
- Support the safe operation of critical hospital services in line with statutory and contractual requirements
- Assist with fault finding, repairs and basic system diagnostics
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, managers and specialist engineers onsite
- Follow health, safety and compliance procedures required within a live healthcare environment
- Undertake training and development to build technical capability across additional systems where required
Essential Qualifications/Skills
- Mechanical maintenance or building services engineering background
- Practical experience working with mechanical plant (e.g. AHUs, pumps, fans or similar systems)
NVQ / City & Guilds Level 2 or Level 3 in a mechanical discipline (or equivalent) - Mechanical Skillcard and CSCS Card
- Experience within Facilities Management or building services environments
- Willingness to learn and undertake further training
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a live, customer-focused environment
- Eligibility to pass a DBS check
