Senior Commercial Manager – West Midlands, Liberty Group

We’re looking for a Senior Commercial Manager to take ownership of contract risk and opportunity management across the Liberty Group, playing a critical role in both our financial performance and long‑term success.

About the Role

This is a senior, influential position with responsibility for managing the full commercial lifecycle of high‑value and long‑term contracts – from bid stage through to final account.

Our Portfolio Includes

  • One‑off construction projects
  • Decarbonisation and sustainability opportunities
  • Long‑term maintenance services, including heating & compliance and repairs & maintenance

You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, clients and multidisciplinary teams to maximise profitability, mitigate risk and unlock opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Risk & Opportunity Management (End‑to‑End)

  • Pre‑Contract: Identifying and understanding contractual risks and opportunities, negotiating fair and robust terms, and ensuring the right commercial resource is in place from the outset.
  • Mobilisation: Creating and implementing clear commercial strategies and contract administration plans, ensuring teams are set up for success from day one.
  • Operational Delivery: Monitoring performance, managing change, issuing contractual notices, resolving issues early, avoiding disputes and maintaining strong commercial governance.
  • Contract Close: Agreeing final accounts, capturing lessons learned and ensuring robust records management.

Leadership & Influence

  • Lead and develop commercial and quantity surveying teams across the Liberty Group.
  • Act as a trusted, client‑facing commercial lead, negotiating the best financial outcomes.
  • Coordinate expertise across legal, operational, technical, finance, HR and business development teams.
  • Deputise for the Group Commercial Director on commercial matters when required.
  • Lead by example, embedding Liberty’s values and operating principles in everything you do.
