Regional Engagement Manager – Personnel Security Countermeasures Team

This brand new post supports the national rollout and implementation of the Routine and Responsive Vetting (RRV) programme across HMPPS. The role leads stakeholder engagement within regions, helping operational teams understand vetting and safeguarding, delivering site-based support, coordinating regional events, and running awareness sessions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead stakeholder engagement in the region, building relationships with local management teams and operational staff.
  • Deliver site‑based support, including awareness sessions and training on the new vetting model.
  • Coordinate and manage regional events and assurance checks.
  • Contribute to audit and governance structures and oversee a small team of Band 3 Vetting Support Officers.
  • Support change management initiatives across prisons and probation sites.
  • Handle travel to prison and probation sites as required.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and relationships within a public sector environment.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, able to coach and support geographically dispersed sites.
  • Experience managing or supervising a small team.
  • Proven ability to work independently while maintaining team cohesion.
  • Knowledge of vetting processes or interest in learning the RRV programme.

Additional Requirements

  • SC level security clearance and a UK footprint of 5 years.
  • 18‑month Detached Duty/Loan subject to Business Unit approval.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to prisons and probation sites.

Salary and Benefits

  • National salary range: £39,803 – £43,783.
  • London salary range: £42,817 – £48,824.
  • Annual leave entitlement based on the holiday year from 1 March, calculated pro‑rata.
  • 9 bank, public and privilege holidays.
  • Civil Service pension scheme – choice of two options.
  • Season ticket advance available after two months of service.
  • Flexible working arrangements subject to operational needs.
