Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical) – Thames Water Framework

Location: East Hyde, Bedfordshire (some remote working may be available, occasional travel to the office required). Hours: 45 hours per week, with some flexibility on hours available.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all mechanical works comply with safety regulations, quality standards, and Thames Water specifications.
  • Review and approve mechanical design documents.
  • Oversee installation of pumps, valves, pipework, and HVAC systems.
  • Manage the mechanical programme, coordinate with subcontractors and monitor progress against project timelines.
  • Identify and manage changes or variations in mechanical scope through the formal change control process.
  • Oversee mechanical construction activities, testing, commissioning, and handover to ensure operational compliance.

Requirements

  • Experience within the water industry.
  • BEng, ONC, HNC, or BTEC qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • CSCS card, SSSTS certification, and Confined Spaces qualification.
  • Experience reviewing risk assessments and method statements with an understanding of process plant awareness.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to manage budgets, costs, and variations effectively.
  • Full driving licence and comfortable with occasional site travel.
  • Transferrable skills welcome; we encourage application even if not every box is ticked.
