Job Summary

We offer a relocation package of up to £8,000. An exciting and well supported opportunity for an enthusiastic Practitioner psychologist (Clinical or Counselling psychologist), HCPC registered (or on their way to registration) to join our small psychology team and a very friendly MDT in Crewe, East Cheshire. Our psychology provision is unfortunately limited at present, but we are very keen to expand and develop, meeting Community Transformation agenda ambitions and to make psychological interventions widely available to a greater majority of the service users under the care of the CMHT.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a highly specialist psychology service to clients with complex psychological and mental health presentations.
  • Embed a psychologically informed model of practice within the service and with other agencies.
  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and consultation to junior psychology/therapy colleagues, assistant psychologists, and trainee psychologists.
  • Participate in service development and quality improvement projects.
  • Support staff wellbeing through peer, clinical, and management supervision.
  • Engage in continuing professional development and pursue specific therapeutic or research interests.

Qualifications

  • Post‑graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology, counselling, or health psychology (or equivalent training prior to 1996).
  • HCPC registration (Band 8a) or equivalent professional body registration (BABCP/UKCP).
  • Additional psychotherapy training relevant to complex presentations (CBT, Compassion‑Focused Therapy, Brief Interpersonal Therapy, Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy).
  • Supervision training (Band 8a).
  • Commitment to ethical, trauma‑informed practice and a positive recovery approach.

Knowledge & Expertise

  • Complex psychological assessment and intervention requiring sustained concentration.
  • Effective communication skills in writing and orally with clinicians and service users.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Consultation skills for inter‑professional teams.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, supervision theory and practice, and national health‑care policy.
  • Experience of teaching, training, and policy/service development (desirable).

Experience

  • Post‑qualification NHS experience as a clinical, counselling, or health psychologist with adult clients with varied psychological problems.
  • Experience engaging and sustaining work with ambivalent and complex clients.
  • Experience working as part of a multi‑professional team.
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision and teaching (desirable).

Conditions of Employment

  • Contract: Permanent
  • Working pattern: Full‑time, flexible working
  • Location: Delamere Resource Centre, 45 Delemere Street, Crewe, CW1 2ER
  • Salary band: Band 7, £43,742 to £57,349 per annum (pro‑rata)
