Job Overview

Senior/Principal Design Engineer required to be based at our client's London office. The company is a well-established leader in the HVAC sector, operating from six regional offices across the UK and experiencing consistent growth over the past 20 years. They provide a full turnkey service, covering design, installation, servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair of a wide range of HVAC systems.

In this role, the Senior/Principal Design Engineer will take ownership of design packages and manage relationships with an established portfolio of blue‑chip clients. They will oversee technical delivery, provide mentorship to junior engineers and play a key role in the development of costed proposals and securing new project opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design of HVAC systems (heating, cooling, ventilation & controls)
  • Prepare detailed schematics, drawings and specifications
  • Manage energy audits, reporting and ROI analysis
  • Compile and present costed design proposals to clients with commercial confidence
  • Conduct site surveys, commissioning support and design reviews
  • Mentor graduate engineers, junior and intermediate design engineers in the team

Salary & Benefits

  • Basic salary £50,000 – £77,000 DOE
  • Bonus scheme

Job Requirements

  • 5–8 years’ building services/HVAC design experience
  • Proven record of delivering projects independently
  • Strong knowledge of controls, AHUs, VRF/VRV and heating chilled water systems
  • Experienced in cost and design proposal writing and client engagement
  • Energy auditing and carbon reduction experience
