Kier Mechanical & Electrical (KME) is an internal MEP self‑delivery design and build business within the Kier group, supporting regional businesses across the UK and Strategic Projects on complex, high‑value schemes. We operate across custodial, defence, commercial, education, health and science sectors, offering full design, construct and commissioning capability.
Role
As Commercial Manager, you'll be responsible for leading a major project in the Life Science/Healthcare sector, managing the commercial function, maximising planned gross margin through strategic placement and control of contracts and subcontracts, and working closely with our Construction colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Leading and managing the commercial team to maximise gross margin and financial performance across projects
- Developing and implementing commercial and procurement strategies aligned with business unit objectives
- Managing contract commercial activities, including risk management, forecasting and monthly reporting
- Overseeing procurement processes, subcontract administration and final account agreements
- Supporting tender submissions and work‑winning activities, determining commercial strategies and risk mitigations
Requirements
- Degree or HND/HNC in Quantity Surveying
- Experienced manager with proven track record of delivering multiple medium schemes or large complex projects
- Excellent understanding of main contract forms (JCT, NEC) and contractual administration
- Strong technical understanding of MEPH services and how packages interface
- Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
