Overview
A Contracts Manager is required for a busy main contractor based in Bristol. The contractor has over 30 years of experience and operates from offices in Surrey, Oxfordshire, and Hampshire, with a turnover of over £200 million. The role involves delivering D&B projects across the primary, secondary, further education sectors as well as healthcare, commercial, industrial, and blue‑light sectors, typically ranging in value from £1m to £25m.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple contracts from pre‑contract through construction phase to handover alongside delivery teams.
- Lead project teams, ensuring client liaison, smooth on‑site progress, and financial success in collaboration with the Commercial Manager.
- Support project teams by identifying risks and opportunities, planning proactively, and addressing design, build, client, and sub‑contractor issues.
- Drive high standards in health & safety, quality, client relationships, forward planning, programming, supply chain relationships, and adherence to company processes.
- Oversee 2–3 construction teams on live projects and contribute to at least one pre‑construction assignment.
- Mentor teams to develop future Project Managers and Senior Site Managers through continuous improvement practices.
Qualifications
- Experienced Contracts Manager with a proven track record in successful project delivery within a Tier 1 or 2 main contracting organisation.
- Comfortable managing multiple projects up to £6m.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, client‑facing, design team, and site team management skills.
- Technical, contractual, and commercial knowledge with vision, focus, and drive.
