Deputy Ward Manager – Eating Disorder Unit (Confidential Opportunity)

Salary: £43,014 – £46,314

A confidential healthcare provider is seeking an experienced Deputy Ward Manager (RMN) to join a specialist Eating Disorder Unit within a well-established independent hospital setting. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated mental health professional with strong leadership skills and experience within eating disorder services to support the management and development of a high-quality clinical environment.

Service Overview

The hospital is a 56-bed facility comprising four wards, including two NHS-contracted services and two private wards. The successful candidate will work within a 12-bed specialist Eating Disorder Unit, supporting individuals with complex mental health needs.

Role Overview

The Deputy Ward Manager will support the Ward Manager in the day-to-day operational and clinical leadership of the ward, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred care. The post holder will play a key role in staff supervision, clinical governance, and maintaining high standards of care and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Ward Manager in leading and developing the multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensure high standards of clinical care, safety, and patient experience.
  • Provide strong leadership, supervision, and mentorship to nursing staff.
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance processes.
  • Assist in managing staffing, rota planning, and performance management.
  • Promote a positive, recovery-focused therapeutic environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) qualification with active NMC registration.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ ward management or senior leadership experience.
  • Experience working within an Eating Disorder Unit (EDU) is essential.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills.
  • Ability to support and motivate a multidisciplinary team while maintaining high clinical standards.
