Our client is recruiting for a Field Engineer Apprentice to join their team in Chelmsford. The Level 4 Network Engineer apprenticeship programme that we are offering, will allow you to kick-start your career in an industry that is constantly evolving, dynamic and transformational.

This is a hands-on apprenticeship designed for individuals with a passion forIT, telecoms, and technology, offering real-world experience alongside structured learning. You will work closely with experienced engineers, gaining exposure to network infrastructure, installations, and fault resolution across customer sites.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Field Engineer Apprentice, you will:

  • Support engineers with theinstallation and maintenance of telecoms and network equipment
  • Assist withsite surveys, cabling, and equipment setup
  • Learn how to identify and troubleshootnetwork faults and connectivity issues
  • Shadow engineers on customer visits across Essex
  • Gain experience working withinpublic sector environments(e.g. councils, schools, healthcare settings)
  • Support with documentation, updates, and system records
  • Develop an understanding ofhealth & safety and compliance standardsin the field

Apprenticeship Structure

Your working week will typically include:

  • Day 1:Structured learning with apprenticeship provider
  • Days 2–3:Field-based learning alongside experienced engineers
  • Day 4:On-site training and development (Essex office)
  • Day 5:Additional learning, admin tasks, or project exposure

We’re looking for individuals who are:

  • Passionate aboutIT, telecoms, or technology
  • Reliable, professional, and keen to learn
  • Confident communicators with apositive, engaging personality
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable working in different locations across Essex

Essential Requirements

  • Age21+(due to driving licence requirements)
  • Full UKdriving licence
  • Based in or able to commute toEssex (Chelmsford area)
  • Basic understanding of IT (e.g., networks, hardware, or systems)
