Due to continued growth and increasing demand for bespoke machinery, we’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering team.


This is a hands-on role focused on the design and development of special-purpose machinery, working closely with internal teams from concept through to build and delivery.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Designing new machines, retrofits, and upgrades
  • Creating 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks
  • Producing sales layout drawings (SolidWorks / AutoCAD)
  • Generating Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Creating 2D drawings (assembly, part, fabrication)
  • Developing pneumatic schematics
  • Producing machine manuals and technical documentation
  • Supporting the shop floor during machine builds
  • Liaising with design and engineering teams to optimise designs
  • Identifying and implementing product improvements
  • Completing documentation including test plans and validation reports
  • Resolving design and build issues with internal stakeholders


What We’re Looking For


Essential:

  • Mechanical engineering qualification (BTEC / HNC or similar)
  • Strong background in mechanical design of machinery
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD
  • Ability to produce BOMs, drawings, and technical documentation
  • Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
  • Team player with good communication skills


Desirable:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience in machinery design
  • Experience with AutoCAD (layout drawings)
  • Knowledge of pneumatic systems
  • Experience building or commissioning machinery
  • Exposure to validation and production line processes
  • Chartered or working towards
