Job Description

We are looking for a Section Engineer to join the KierBAM Joint Venture team at Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard. The role requires a commitment of 45 hours per week with some flexibility available.

Location: Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard. This position is part of a joint venture between Kier and BAM Nuttall, contributing to a redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site.

We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to candidates in this role. Due to the sensitive nature of the site, a BPSS security clearance is required, and the process can take up to 8 weeks. Holders must have a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.

Responsibilities

  • Support the site engineering team in delivering high‑quality construction outcomes for this MOD facility.
  • Provide accurate setting‑out and dimensional control to ensure precise construction standards.
  • Maintain as‑built drawings and project quality documentation.
  • Assist with technical problem‑solving and respond to queries.
  • Record and test workmanship and materials, including drainage, concrete, piling and brickwork.
  • Prepare clear sketches and maintain effective communication channels across the site.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualification in civil engineering or equivalent professional qualification (or working towards).
  • SSSTS and CSCS White PQP/AQP certifications.
  • Card for Chartership or Incorporation with a relevant professional body (or working towards).
  • A collaborative approach and a preference for teamwork.
  • Eligibility: passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and residency in the UK for the past 5 years.
