Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) provides good quality, safe and effective healthcare to the people of Cheshire and beyond. The Trust, which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, was established as an NHS Trust in April 1991 and became a Foundation Trust in April 2008. We employ almost 5,000 members of staff, provide around 540 hospital beds, with a range of services including accident and emergency, maternity, outpatients, therapies, and children's health. The Trust is also part of Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP), a unique local health partnership that provides a range of community services for people across South Cheshire and Vale Royal.
Qualifications & Attributes
The successful candidates will be technically skilled, reliable, professional and motivated, with a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills and a dynamic and flexible approach to their work. Sound decision making skills and the ability and confidence to work alone are essential, but we also need good team players. Quality reporting skills are of paramount importance, as we operate a sonographer led service with radiologist back up when required. All our sonographers are encouraged to be proactive in their use of equipment controls and settings, and we see this as a vital part of our student education process. We have embedded a robust system of clinical audit with regular feedback. Good teaching skills are a must, as we are involved in the training of radiology and obstetric registrars as well as having a rolling sonographer training program. Candidates with experience/qualifications in only specific areas, and part‑time applicants should apply. Applicants are required to hold the PGCert/PG Dip in Medical Ultrasound from a CASE recognised University and must have worked as a sonographer in the NHS (or an equivalent service in the UK) within the last 3 years. Newly qualified sonographers fulfilling the above criteria should apply and are encouraged to apply.
