Senior Asset Engineer, Distribution (South England)
Location: South England. Contract: Personal Contract. Full time.

Responsibilities
- Review asset condition information and use engineering knowledge and judgement to develop intervention plans.
- Produce comprehensive business cases for investment committee approval.
- Support and monitor the delivery of the programme of work for the current regulatory price control period and contribute to development of plans for the following period.
- Understand legal rights and obligations for pipelines and sites, managing conflict where third parties encroach on our land or build over easements, and support the legal team with recovery or enforcement as necessary.
- Support the development and implementation of new policies.
- Review inspection reports and recommend remedial actions with the competent authority.
- Support investigations into integrity issues, operational abnormalities and external factors such as environmental damage or inappropriate development adjacent to sites and pipelines.
- Liaise with operational colleagues to ensure maintenance activity and construction activity are completed and recorded correctly.
- Interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and other organisations.
Qualifications
- Positive and flexible approach; highly motivated with good organisational, diagnostic and problem‑solving skills; effective communicator at all levels and able to act on own initiative.
- Ideally an engineering degree (Mechanical or Chemical); Chartered or Incorporated Engineer registration is advantageous, or a demonstrated commitment to registration and CPD.
- High level of computer literacy and associated skills; commitment to SGN values and safety culture.
- Must hold a driving licence and be prepared to travel periodically.
- Technical skills:
- Good knowledge of the gas industry.
- Good knowledge of applicable legislation (e.g., Pressure System Safety Regulations, Pipeline Safety Regulations).
- Good understanding of gas transmission and distribution systems and their dependencies.
- Good knowledge and understanding of IGEM standards.
