The employer is a cryptocurrency launchpad for the Solana blockchain that enables users to create tokens and trade them immediately on the platform, as well as to launch them onto decentralized exchanges. With over 6 million meme coins launched on the platform, it is one of the fastest-growing crypto applications and one of the biggest drivers of the explosive growth in memecoins on the planet.
They are hiring a Lead Blockchain Payments Engineer – Fiat Ramps in London (on‑site/in person).
Missions
As the Lead Blockchain Payments Engineer, you will be a core architect and owner of the essential financial infrastructure. You will design and scale the core services that power seamless fiat ↔ crypto flows, real‑time risk decisions, and rock‑solid financial records.
Payment Orchestration & Integrations
- Own the end‑to‑end payment orchestration for major bank rails (ACH/RTP/FedNow/SEPA/Open Banking) and cards (including Apple Pay/Google Pay).
- Design and implement idempotent, fault‑tolerant APIs and robust webhook processing systems.
- Integrate and manage third‑party providers for connectivity (Plaid/TrueLayer/Tink), card processing (Stripe/Checkout.com/Adyen), and on‑chain risk/compliance (Chainalysis/TRM, Travel Rule networks).
- Build and scale a real‑time risk engine (≤ 300 ms) combining ML scores, rules, device signals, sanctions/KYC hits, payment intelligence, and blockchain analytics to yield fast GREEN/AMBER/RED outcomes.
- Implement foundational KYC/AML primitives (CIP/CDD, sanctions/PEP screening, Travel Rule data plumbing) in close partnership with our Compliance team, ensuring audit‑ready decision journaling.
Financial Integrity & Reconciliation
- Ship a double‑entry ledger and automated reconciliation jobs that accurately tie together processors, bank statements, and on‑chain balances.
- Develop daily break detection and automated remediation workflows to maintain financial integrity.
Blockchain & Wallet Operations
- Ensure safe and rapid crypto delivery (e.g., USDC/SOL) to user wallets by managing hot‑wallet flows, transaction creation, confirmations, and operational safeguards.
Reliability & Instrumentation
- Set the bar for reliability: implement SLOs, circuit breakers, retries/backoffs, dead‑letter queues, shadow traffic, and canary releases for all high‑risk financial flows.
- Instrument everything with traces, metrics, and logs. Build internal ops & compliance dashboards and participate in the production on‑call rotation for our 24/7 system.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Product, Mobile, Compliance, Risk, and Finance teams, driving features from initial concept through production deployment and iteration.
Stack
Languages: Rust, Go, TypeScript/Node, Python
Messaging: Kafka/Redpanda, NATS
API/IPC: gRPC/REST
Infra: AWS (EKS, RDS, KMS), Terraform
Requirements
You are a backend and onramp specialist with a passion for high‑throughput, low‑latency distributed systems and financial technology.
Essential Qualifications
- System Design & Scale: Deep experience in high‑throughput, low‑latency distributed systems, payments, or fintech risk platforms.
- Language Fluency: Fluent in one or more systems languages (Rust, Go), or strong systems chops in TypeScript/Node/Python.
- Database Mastery: Expert‑level knowledge of Postgres (transactions, indexing, locking), with familiarity in Redis and event/OLAP stores (Kafka/Redpanda, ClickHouse).
- API Craftsmanship: Mastery of gRPC/REST best practices, including versioning, pagination, authN/Z, idempotency keys, and building rock‑solid webhook consumers.
- Event‑Driven Design: Experience designing systems with queues, outbox/inbox patterns, Sagas, and ensuring exactly‑once‑effective behavior.
- Security Mindset: Practical experience with key management basics, HSM/KMS usage, secrets hygiene, least privilege, data minimization, and auditability.
- Ownership & Ambiguity: Ownership‑driven and comfortable operating in high‑ambiguity environments—you move quickly, measure results, and iterate.

- Compliance plumbing: sanctions/PEP screening, Travel Rule networks, SAR/STR workflow integration.
- Crypto delivery: Solana RPCs, USDC flows, wallet ops, Chainalysis/TRM integrations.

- Work essentials: MacBook Pro, iPhone, AirPods, screens, headsets, and cables are provided on Day 1.
- Training and coursework in Crypto, Blockchain, Security, coding languages and other topics are paid for on‑demand to encourage personal and professional growth.
