Vacancy Name: English Teacher Location: Sunderland, SR4 Contract Type: Permanent Hours per week: 37.5 Working Days & Times: Monday – Thursday 8:30am – 4:30pm, Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm Salary: £30,000 – £34,000   Description: Our client is a specialist construction training centre committed to helping learners develop the skills, knowledge, and qualifications they need to succeed in the construction industry. They are looking for a passionate and experienced English Teacher to join their team and support learners in achieving both GCSE and Functional Skills English qualifications.   This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact on learners’ futures by delivering high-quality, engaging lessons and supporting students to reach their full potential.   Role Information:   As an English Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver engaging and effective GCSE and Functional Skills English lessons.
  • Assess learners’ starting points and identify their development needs.
  • Plan and deliver tailored learning experiences for individual learners and groups.
  • Maintain accurate records, including Individual Learning Plans, learner registers, and assessment documentation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support learner retention, achievement, and progression.
  • Ensure assessments and documentation meet awarding body and organisational requirements.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment in line with safeguarding and health & safety policies.
  • Participate in team meetings, moderation, and continuous professional development.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualified English Teacher (Level 3 or above in English subject specialism).
  • Minimum 2 years’ teaching or training experience.
  • Hold a PTTLS, AET, or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Ability to deliver inspiring and engaging sessions tailored to learners’ needs.
