Structural Engineer

Location: Sheffield

Our client are seeking a Structural Engineer for their office based in Sheffield. The Structural Engineer will be working for a well-known consultancy, which operates within the Civil, Structural and Geotechnical Engineering. This is an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineer to join a fact‑growing company to work on a range of projects within a Multi‑Disciplinary Environment.

Position Overview

  • Produce design calculations
  • Preparation of sketch plans, working drawings, specifications and reports
  • Assist with planning site investigation works
  • Preparing feasibility studies and providing design advice
  • Development and use of computer‑based systems to improve efficiency
  • Undertake site inspection and attend site meetings
  • Produce designs, assessments and calculations in accordance with quality procedures
  • Liaise effectively with clients, other design team members and third parties
  • Communicating with the client, other consultants and colleagues in the delivery of projects whilst maintaining a positive client relationship
  • Understand and adhere to existing working practices, methods and procedures
  • Work within the given programme and cost constraints

Position Requirements

  • Degree within a Civil or Structural Engineering Discipline
  • At least two years experience within Structural Engineering
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Conversant in designing to British Standards/UK version of Eurocodes
  • Understanding of CDM regulations and the responsibilities of a designer
  • Conversant in designing structures in concrete, steelwork, timber and masonry
  • Understanding of engineering principles
  • Able to produce hand calculations and sketches of structural elements
  • Good interpersonal skills
