A vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our Renal Dialysis Team at Royal Preston Hospital as a Dialysis Support Officer. The role involves working early and late shifts, Monday to Saturday, between 7:00am and 8:00pm, during the unit’s operational hours.
Full training will be given.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and organise all dialysis consumables to ensure a safe and efficient treatment environment.
- Connect dialysis machines to water supplies and drain points, start up equipment, run T1 tests, and assist with lining and priming.
- Check and, if required, initiate the appropriate automatic cleaning functions on the machines.
- Remove used bloodlines from the dialysis machine on completion of dialysis session and dispose of them safely in line with renal waste control policy.
- Disinfect and clean dialysis machines including blood splashes and spillages.
- Assist the clinical and renal technologists with the removal of dialysis machines for swap outs, service, and repair.
- Ensure correct protective equipment and decontamination procedures are followed when working on equipment that has been in contact with blood borne viruses, bodily fluids and chemicals.
- Maintain clean and tidy storage and utility areas.
- Housekeep consumables store areas, including unpacking boxes, stacking consumables, rotating stock, and collapsing cardboard boxes.
- Ensure patient and top‑up trolleys are always sufficiently stocked and complete monthly trolley cleans.
- Assist with delivery of dialysis consumables to Ward 25 at the request of management.
- Assist with cleaning of water/drain panels in the dialysis units at the request of management.
- Perform other related tasks as required by senior members of the dialysis team.
