Contract: Interim Assistant Quality Manager Role (9–12 months)
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday | Site-based | 9am-5.30pm
This is an opportunity to join a well-established food manufacturer supplying major UK retailers and Foodservice, at a pivotal time for the business as site standards, systems and working practices continue to evolve in line with retailer expectations.
This Interim Assistant Quality Manager role has been created as a project-focused position to strengthen food safety and quality compliance across the site. Working closely with the Quality Manager and operational teams, you will play a key role in reviewing current standards, conducting gap analysis and implementing improvements to ensure the site continues to meet the highest technical and retailer requirements.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role where your expertise will directly influence factory standards, support operational teams and strengthen the overall food safety culture.
What You’ll Be Doing
Conduct gap analysis against retailer standards and identify improvement opportunitiesUpdate site procedures, working practices and technical standards where requiredSupport the site in strengthening food safety and quality systemsLead internal audits including GMP, allergen, process and system auditsEnsure HACCP, food defence and prerequisite programmes are maintained and followedConduct food safety risk assessments and support improvement plans across the factoryLead investigations into non-conformances and support corrective and preventative actionsEnsure compliance through internal auditing and risk-based assessmentsProvide technical guidance to production teams on food safety and quality standardsDeputise for the Quality Manager when required and support audit readiness across the site

Your Background
Strong experience within Quality or Technical roles in UK food manufacturingFood Safety Level 4 and HACCP Level 3 qualificationExperience managing internal audits and maintaining site complianceComfortable working in environments where positive product release is a key controlExperience conducting food safety risk assessments and supporting improvement plansStrong understanding of retailer food manufacturing standardsConfident working closely with production teams and influencing standards on the factory floor
