Family Support Practitioner
Hours of work: 19.5 per week. Working pattern: Part-time, term-time only (working for 39 weeks per year plus 5.05 weeks annual leave, which will increase after 5 years' continuous service). As the position is part-time/term-time only, the above salary will be pro rata.

We are seeking a compassionate and supportive Family Support Practitioner who has a sound understanding of safeguarding to work in this demanding but rewarding role. A key part of the role will be to focus on preventative and early intervention activities to assist in tackling underachievement by working with families, parents, carers and children in school and help them to overcome barriers to learning.
The successful candidate will be responsible for improving individual children’s attendance, be a Deputy Safeguarding Lead, liaise with outside agencies for attendance, safeguarding and health‑related matters and work with parents to improve outcomes for children.
Responsibilities
- Work either independently using their own initiative or as part of a team.
- Have excellent communication skills, a positive and enthusiastic approach and have the confidence to develop positive relationships to support and challenge hard to reach families.
- Be confident and resilient and have the ability to deal with difficult or sensitive situations and resolve conflict.
- Have a good understanding of ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ and associated safeguarding procedures in nurseries and schools.
- Have knowledge of external agencies that can support families with a range of needs.
- Be able to relate to parents when advising and supporting their child.
- Have excellent organisation, administration, communication and IT skills with the ability to prioritise and manage their workload effectively to secure successful outcomes.
- Report to the Senior Leadership Team and work alongside the office team.
