Are you a qualified Occupational Health Nurse Advisor with proven experience in an occupational health setting and ready to support a dynamic, nurse‑led service? We have a Bank opportunity for you to work ad hoc depending on service demands.
Your clinical expertise will support the service with management and self-referrals for NHS staff across South West Yorkshire Partnership Teaching Trust (community and mental health) and our partner Trusts.
After induction you will be expected to work independently carrying out management referral assessments either at base (Fieldhead Hospital) or remotely. The role will involve collaborating at times with an experienced multi‑disciplinary team including RMNs, physiotherapists, OTs, and counsellors.

Main duties of the job
You will collaborate closely with an experienced multi‑disciplinary team including RMNs, physiotherapists, OTs, and counsellors while acting as a key point of clinical leadership within the nurse‑led model.

Job responsibilities
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will provide a high quality occupational health service to LYPFT and SWYPFT and external contracts, in accordance with trust policies and procedures. The post holder would be expected to regularly travel to satellite clinics throughout a wide geographical area. The post holder will assist and support the head of occupational health in delivery of an effective and high quality evidence‑based occupational health service.
The post holder will be required to provide professional mentorship and supervision to other MDT colleagues under the direction of the head of occupational health and undertake highly complex case management in line with the Equality Act 2010. The post holder will also undertake a comprehensive range of occupational health activities including policy and procedure development and review. The post holder will be responsible for the department in the absence of the head of occupational health.

Professional Practice
- To promote and maintain the health and safety and wellbeing of all trust employees by ensuring complex OH advice is based on best evidence based practice
- Work according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional standards and guidelines including maintenance of confidentiality
- Work in partnership with all key stakeholders e.g. health & Safety, Infection Prevention & Control, MDT OH Colleagues
- To analyse complex facts and situations and make appropriate autonomous judgements
- Assessment of sickness absence and ill health affecting work, including complex rehabilitation and return to work plans
- Provide highly specialised advice to clients and managers as an autonomous practitioner lead
- Develop specialised care packages for complex cases and liaise with appropriate external key stakeholders / agencies to ensure holistic approach to health, safety & welfare of client

- Undertake audit of OH systems & procedures and make recommendations to improve service delivery
- Assist in the review of department policies and procedures

- Administration of vaccinations / immunisations in line with PGDs and vaccination procedures (OHA only)
- Provision of complex case management advice in an independent impartial manner in line with Trust policies and procedures
- Undertake Health Surveillance programmes (including spirometry) (OHA only)
- Conduct specialist workplace assessments in accordance with regulations, i.e. COSHH, DSE, PPE (OHA only)
- Provide reports and statistics to Head of OH to monitor & improve service delivery
- Plan & deliver seasonal flu programme / training of peer to peer vaccinators
Communication and partnership working
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the Trusts

Qualifications
- Level 1 RGN.
- Accredited specialist public health community nurse (OH) to degree level on part 3 of NMC register.
- ENB998 / C7G 7307 or teaching experience.
Experience
- Substantial, significant and demonstrable post OH qualification experience equivalent to masters level.
- Experience of delivering Induction / training programmes.
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of current OH issues.
- Knowledge of Equality Act 2010 in relation to its application in OH practice.
- A good working knowledge & awareness of OH & safety legislation
- Deliver a full immunisation programme ( MMR, Vzv, Hep B , TB) and management of sharps incidents.
- Experience of clinical audit and clinical governance.
