General Summary
Provide field service support at customer sites in the UK and abroad, including offshore installations. Responsibilities encompass plant installation, commissioning, fault identification, pump or cartridge removal, and on‑site dismantling. Prepare detailed strip and inspection reports and perform on‑site re‑assembly or refurbishment.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Investigate and troubleshoot operational problems at customer premises, providing information, photographs, and reports.
- Remove or supervise the removal of pumping equipment for transfer to the Service Centre.
- Install and commission pumping equipment after overhaul or new factory delivery.
- Conduct condition and performance monitoring activities.
- Disassemble pumping plant, including cartridge removal, and produce detailed strip/inspection reports with dimensional checks and photographs.
- Re‑assemble pumping machinery on‑site or in the Service Centre using new spare parts or agreed refurbishment techniques.
- Supervise contractors or client personnel as required to fulfill contract scope.
- Produce daily reports and technical reports following project completion.
- Assemble pump and pump set within CU manufacturing plants.
- Ensure adherence to all Corporate Environmental, Health & Safety guidelines and project requirements.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Fundamental knowledge of pumps and associated equipment.
- Background in field service or workshop service of rotating equipment.
- Experience in commissioning rotating equipment in field or an in‑house test facility.
- Proficiency with light workshop machinery such as drills, milling machines and conventional lathes.
- Customer‑facing communication skills, able to articulate machinery assessments.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills with a proactive, "can‑do" approach under pressure.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Report writing skills and effective public speaking ability before groups of customers or employees.
- Capability to work independently or within a team, internally and externally.
- Experience in producing hazards/risk assessments to a high standard.
- Willingness to work away from home for extended periods.
- Understanding of health & safety procedures and ability to complete written risk assessments.
- Strong command of the English language, both verbal and written.
Education and Experience
- Time served mechanical apprenticeship is essential.
