Senior Account Handler – Step Into a Role With Real Influence
Location: Corby, Northamptonshire
Salary: £40,000 per annum (hybrid working model – 3 days in office, 2 days from home)
Ready for more responsibility without losing the feel of a proper team? If you’re an experienced Commercial Account Handler confident managing renewals, MTAs, and new business – and you’re starting to feel you’ve outgrown your current setup – this could be the move that actually makes sense.
This is a chance to step into a Senior Account Handler role where your experience genuinely matters, your judgement is trusted, and your voice helps shape how the team runs day‑to‑day.
This is a well‑established independent commercial insurance broker with a strong reputation built on service, relationships, and doing things properly over many years.
You’ll be joining a close‑knit, supportive team that handles a strong portfolio of SME commercial clients—particularly property owners’ insurance—alongside more complex commercial cases.
People We Value
- Take ownership without being micromanaged
- Keep clients loyal through service, not scripts
- Quietly lead by example in a busy office
- Want progression without losing work‑life balance
The role at a glance
You’ll take ownership of a well‑established commercial book, managing the full lifecycle of client accounts:
- Handle new business enquiries from existing and new clients
- Manage renewals and MTAs end‑to‑end
- Keep control of deadlines, diaries, and service levels
- Support colleagues by delegating and balancing workload across the team
- Act as a senior point of contact when Directors are unavailable
- Support more complex or high‑value cases when needed
What You’ll Need
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial insurance
- Confident managing renewals, MTAs, and new business independently
- Comfortable using Acturis
- Strong communication skills with a natural phone‑first approach
- Organised, reliable, and able to juggle priorities without dropping standards
What Would Set You Apart
- 10+ years’ commercial insurance experience
- CII qualifications (or working towards)
- Previous mentoring, supervisory, or team lead experience
- Experience handling more complex or higher‑value commercial risks
What’s In It For You
- £40,000 salary
- Hybrid working model (3 days office / 2 days home)
- A genuinely supportive, down‑to‑earth team environment
- Real autonomy in how you manage your portfolio
- The opportunity to step into a more senior, trusted role without corporate red tape
- Exposure to larger, more complex commercial cases
What Kind of Person Thrives Here
- Confident but not corporate
- Experienced but still hungry for progression
- Someone who enjoys building relationships, not just processing policies
- Comfortable taking responsibility and being relied upon
Interview Process
- Stage 1: Informal face‑to‑face meeting with the leadership team
- Stage 2: Formal face‑to‑face interview
If you’re an experienced commercial handler ready for a step up in responsibility—and want to do it in a stable, supportive independent broker—this is one worth having a conversation about.
