Driver Hire Canterbury is currently recruiting for a Transport Assistant on behalf of our client. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for an organised and reliable individual to join a busy transport operation.
The successful candidate will support the day‑to‑day running of the transport office, helping to ensure customer deliveries and internal material transfers are completed on time and in full. You will play a key role in route scheduling, transport administration, weighbridge operations, and driver support while maintaining high levels of customer service and compliance.
This role would suit someone with previous transport, logistics, or office administration experience who enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment.

- Shift pattern Monday to Friday and working hours to be discussed at interview
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out transport administration duties to ensure Operator Licence compliance is maintained to a high standard
- Assist with route scheduling to ensure efficient and timely delivery planning
- Collect and record KPI data for analysis and performance monitoring
- Handle general transport office administration duties
- Communicate with sales teams, operations staff, customers, and drivers via telephone and email
- Provide day‑to‑day support to drivers
- Manage delivery and despatch paperwork
- Operate weighbridge processes
- Process Goods Advised paperwork
- Respond to operational challenges and communicate issues promptly to the relevant teams
- Occasionally assist with driving duties where required
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience within transport, logistics, or office administration preferred
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Good IT and administration skills
- Ability to work accurately within tight timescales
- Excellent attention to detail
- Problem‑solving and multitasking abilities
- Customer‑focused approach
- Knowledge of transport compliance or Operator Licence requirements is advantageous
