Field Service Engineer – First Military Recruitment

Overview

First Military Recruitment are searching for a Field Service Engineer to join our client, a leading provider of commercial laundry and catering equipment solutions. With over 50 years of industry experience, the company offers a full‑service package, including equipment supply, installation, maintenance and repair across a wide range of sectors from hospitality and healthcare to sports and private landlords. This is a field‑based role covering London and the South East. You'll be joining a professional and expanding service team, acting as a key ambassador by delivering a high standard of service and support to clients. Our client strongly encourages applications from ex‑military personnel but all applications will be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend service calls to diagnose, repair, and report on faults with commercial laundry and catering equipment
  • Identify and report on equipment and installation conditions, making recommendations where appropriate
  • Carry out commissioning checks on installed equipment
  • Perform basic installations of laundry machines, chemical dosing and ozone systems
  • Recondition and test ex‑rental equipment for redeployment
  • Conduct routine maintenance visits as required
  • Maintain van stock and accurately update the Salesforce inventory system

Skills and Qualifications

  • Mechanical and electrical engineering experience (Gas Safe qualification preferred but not essential)
  • Strong problem‑solving and diagnostic skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional and personable manner when dealing with customers
  • Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines
  • Comfortable working under pressure in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and pride in workmanship
  • Full UK driving licence (clean)
