Position – Assistant Finance Business Partner (18‑month fixed term contract, full time)
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Finance professional to join us on a permanent basis as an Assistant Finance Business Partner. In this role, you’ll work closely with designated business areas, providing high‑quality month‑end reporting, insightful analysis, and robust financial support that directly informs operational and strategic decision making.
You’ll build strong, trusted relationships with senior leaders, acting as a key partner in day‑to‑day financial management. This includes delivering month‑end processes, variance analysis, and recommendations that drive performance improvement.
You will lead on budgeting and forecasting activity, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities, and provide scenario modelling to support long‑term planning. The role also involves supporting the development of business cases, assessing financial viability, and evaluating outcomes through post‑implementation reviews.
A key part of your remit will be identifying financial risks and developing strategies to mitigate them, alongside driving continuous improvement in reporting, modelling, and dashboards to enhance business performance visibility. You’ll also proactively seek opportunities for cost efficiencies and process optimisation.
Responsibilities
- Build strong, trusted relationships with senior leaders, acting as a key partner in day‑to‑day financial management.
- Deliver month‑end processes, variance analysis, and recommendations that drive performance improvement.
- Lead budgeting and forecasting activity, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities, and provide scenario modelling for long‑term planning.
- Support development of business cases, assess financial viability, and evaluate outcomes through post‑implementation reviews.
- Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting, modelling, and dashboards to enhance business performance visibility.
- Proactively seek opportunities for cost efficiencies and process optimisation.
Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA), nearly qualified, or equivalent through experience.
- Experience operating in a fast‑paced, complex finance environment with a strong track record of accurate reporting and insightful analysis.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial information, solve problems, and provide actionable insight.
- Confidence in working with senior stakeholders, influencing decision making, and supporting change across the business.
- Excellent communication, data interpretation, and relationship‑building skills.
- Comfortable presenting information to non‑finance leaders in a clear and engaging way.
