Family Group Decision Maker and Mediation Facilitator – Families Working Together Team
Salary: £30,024 – £33,699 (Grade 5)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract type: Permanent
We are seeking a dynamic, forward‑thinking individual with experience of facilitating Family Group Decision Making and Mediation who will strive to improve outcomes for families.
You will
- Work directly with children, young people and their families to promote, strengthen and develop the potential of parents/carers and their children living together safely, preventing children from suffering significant harm or becoming looked after.
- Be responsible for the planning, coordination, facilitation and review of Family Group Conferences and family mediation, responding appropriately to the needs of individual families from diverse backgrounds.
- Contribute to planning, decision making and practice for children and families within Children’s Services to prevent family breakdown.
- Conduct Family Group Decision Making and Mediation with families with the aim of preventing family breakdown.
- Adopt a whole‑family approach to supporting children, young people and their families on the edge of care and Family Help.
- Contribute to multi‑agency assessments of children and families in need of help and support.
- Co‑work cases with team members and take responsibility for sharing knowledge and developing learning for everyone.
- Work with the wider team to ensure the voice and needs of children and young people are at the forefront of team working.
What you need to have
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Education, Health or Social Care, Community Development, or a Diploma in Youth & Community work.
- Accredited Family Group Conference and Mediation training, or willingness to complete the training.
- Achievement of English and Maths or equivalent to level 2 of the National Qualification Framework.
- A positive enhanced DBS disclosure.
The post holder will be supervised by a Senior Family Group Decision Maker and Mediation Facilitator / Specialist Family Support Manager.
As part of the interview process, candidates will be required to undertake a panel interview. Formal panel interviews will take place on Wednesday 11th March 2026.
