Engineering Project Manager: Automation

to GBP50k plus benefits

East Midlands: commutable from Nottingham, Leicester and Coventry

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the activities of a professional solutions division and lead the delivery of a range of special purpose machinery projects ranging from GBP200k to GBP2m each.
  • Based near Leicester and ensure the successful completion of multiple assigned projects on time and within budget.
  • Manage the scope of all projects and control deviations as necessary, communicating effectively at every stage with the customer and acting as the technical lead for projects to ensure a high standard of machine design through to project delivery.
  • Plan resources accurately to ensure projects can be completed successfully; create quotes for upgrades outside of the original project scope and manage the resolution of issues that arise at various stages.
  • Plan appropriate aftersales support and ensure safe working practices are adhered to; present relevant documentation and CE certification to the customer at project handover.
  • Maintain and update specifications as necessary; define and control budgets; complete project plans and attain design approval with full customer agreement.
  • Plan and lead internal design reviews to ensure high standards of machine design; drive product development and standardisation across the portfolio of solutions.
  • Successfully complete IAT, FAT and SAT on every project machine.
  • Approve and handover mechanical and controls BOMs to purchasing teams and agree dates; identify potential cost savings for manufactured and bought-out items; ensure customer information and component requirements are clear and arrive on time before delivery and installation.
  • Collaborate with teams to arrange the delivery and installation of projects as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven project management skills in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ideally experience with PLC control software and multi-axis robotic systems.
