Job Description:

We’re hiring for a Mechanical Field Service Engineer to support mobile, vehicle-mounted machinery across the South of England, with Reading acting as the central hub for this role.

This is a practical, field-based role focused on maintaining and repairing specialist mobile equipment on site.

What’s on offer?

  • £42k – £45k p/a
  • Mon – Fri | 8am – 5pm
  • 45 hour week
  • Door-to-door pay (standard rate weekdays)
  • Overtime paid at 1.5x on Saturdays
  • 24 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Company vehicle provided (racked & equipped)
  • Fuel card
  • One overnight stay per week on average (hotel costs covered)
  • £25 daily allowance when working away
  • 5% pension contribution
  • Profit-related bonus (EOT scheme)

What will you be doing as a Mechanical Field Service Engineer?

  • Working from home and travelling to customer sites across the South of England
  • Carrying out reactive and planned repair work on mobile mixing equipment
  • Mechanical fitting and replacement of parts on vehicle-mounted machinery
  • Supporting machine calibration (full training provided)
  • Basic electrical fault-finding and diagnostics
  • Basic hydraulic fault diagnosis
  • Light fabrication and MIG welding where required
  • Recording machine data and calibration results accurately
  • Being the on-site point of contact with customers
  • Keeping the company vehicle clean, organised, and inspection-ready

What will you need?

  • Previous experience in a field service, plant, mobile engineering, or mechanical repair role
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Comfortable working independently and travelling for work
