Key Requirements

  • May work as a lead piping engineer or a specialist consultant on feasibility, concept, FEED, or detailed design projects. Hands‑on professional, layout biased but able to progress the delivery of pipe material classes, pipe stress reports, pipe design documentation or narratives with the necessary support where required. Capable of managing quantification needs (i.e. BoM, MTOs).
  • Is technically responsible within a project for all plant layout and piping design engineering work, and for the preparation of project deliverables. Thorough knowledge of offshore norms and standards, UK and international such as ISO, NORSOK, DNV, ASME and API. Knowledge of AutoCAD and PDMS-E3D (including 2D Draw and ISOGEN) is essential, ideally with S3D exposure. Understanding of Caesar or Auto pipe, desired but not essential. Understanding of piping materials as well as WT calculation and corrosion is required.
  • Undertakes specialist activities or reviews of plant layout and piping design engineering aspects, based on their high level of competency. Organises 3D model or deck layout reviews with client‑facing sessions. Understanding of weight management and CoG. Deck drawing production layout, tie‑ins and constructability review for offshore platforms is essential.
  • Participates in multi‑discipline engineering design reviews and provides all necessary plant layout and piping design input and support to close out actions, including HAZOP, HAZID, process safety, operations, and maintenance. May need to perform site visits to North Sea assets. Ideally should hold valid offshore certifications (i.e. BOSIET). Understanding of fundamentals of HSSE and API EP 2G. Possess comprehensive offshore brownfield modification experience, requiring partial or total turnarounds.
  • Identifies scope of work and prepares and contributes to the project execution plan and schedule. Drafting of CTRs, budget and manpower requirements. May need to set up small jobs and collaborate across multiple KENT offices in the UK and globally.
