The main duties of an Inspection & Test Engineer include:

  • Conducting Inspections and Tests: Carrying out thorough inspections and a variety of electrical tests, including point-to-point wiring checks, electrical safety assessments, and equipment functionality testing.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Completing detailed test and inspection reports, assembly record cards, and other documentation to ensure full traceability and compliance.
  • Adherence to Standards: Working in accordance with electrical schematic drawings, project-specific hardware test specifications, and relevant industry regulations and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, CE, British Standards).
  • Collaboration: Working closely with production teams, design engineers, and clients to maintain high-quality standards and meet project deadlines.
  • On-site Work: Occasionally traveling to customer or supplier sites to verify functionality, support testing, and ensure compliance.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Successful candidates typically possess:

  • Experience in electrical inspection and testing roles, ideally within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A full UK driving licence may be required for travel to various sites.
  • Eligibility for SC security clearance may be necessary, depending on project requirements within critical infrastructure sectors such as nuclear, power generation, and water.
