About the role
We’re recruiting for an experienced Electrical Senior Project Engineer to join our team on the Bromford section of HS2, based in Birmingham, as the project enters a key delivery phase. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK’s most high‑profile infrastructure schemes at a critical stage, taking ownership of major electrical work packages from construction through to completion.
What you’ll be doing
As Electrical Senior Project Engineer, you’ll oversee and coordinate electrical packages on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards. You’ll work closely with construction leadership, commercial teams, design teams, subcontractors and client representatives to drive successful delivery across a fast‑paced live project environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing electrical work packages through delivery to handover
- Leading subcontractors to achieve programme, quality and contractual obligations
- Producing and managing short and medium‑term programmes
- Resolving sequencing, phasing and logistical challenges across site operations
- Owning RAMS, procedures, SSOW and safety compliance for your section
- Driving a positive safety culture through daily briefings and site engagement
- Managing QA processes, inspections, defects, NCRs and close out
- Identifying and resolving technical/design issues proactively
- Supporting testing, commissioning and handover activities
- Monitoring commercial performance, variations, records and dayworks
- Mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development
Who we’re looking for
- Strong experience delivering electrical packages on major construction or infrastructure projects
- Previous experience in a Senior Project Engineer / Project Engineer role
- Strong knowledge of electrical installations, standards and regulations
- Excellent planning, coordination and subcontractor management ability
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Commercial awareness with understanding of change control and cost impacts
- Ability to lead teams and make effective site‑based decisions
- Experience within rail, civils, utilities, tunnelling or major infrastructure is highly desirable
