Senior Project Engineers

Support the safe delivery of activities across our high‑voltage transmission network, with opportunities across two disciplines.

Discipline Overview

  • Protection & Control: focus on installation, commissioning, maintenance and fault response of high‑voltage P&C systems, supporting new technologies and digital substation solutions.
  • Senior Authorised Person: support construction, maintenance and fault response activities, working closely with OCC, contractors and operational teams while progressing towards, or operating as, a Senior Authorised Person.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver safe construction, installation, maintenance, commissioning and fault response activities across the transmission network, aligned to your discipline.
  • For Protection & Control, lead on commissioning, maintenance and fault investigation of high‑voltage P&C systems, supporting new technologies and digital substation solutions.
  • For SAP roles, support construction, maintenance and fault response activities while progressing towards or operating as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP).
  • Champion safety and promote a zero‑accident culture, ensuring compliance with all legislation, safety rules and company policies.
  • Build strong working relationships across Transmission Operations, OCC, contractors and wider internal teams.
  • Act as a key operational and customer interface, delivering excellent service and resolving technical and operational challenges.
  • Work with the OCC to optimise system performance and support outage and fault management.
  • Support consistent project, maintenance and fault delivery, driving continuous improvement and quality.
  • Coach, mentor and support the development of trainees and colleagues.
  • Support operational training and authorisation plans, contributing to effective workforce planning.
  • Make balanced decisions using risk frameworks and operational insight, coordinating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree (BSc/BEng) or HND in Electrical Engineering (preferred), or HNC with relevant operational experience.
  • Progression towards Chartered Engineer status (desirable).
  • Experience in an operational role within a DNO, TNO or similar high‑voltage environment.
  • For Protection & Control roles, strong knowledge of P&C systems, commissioning and maintenance practices.
  • For SAP roles, sound understanding of safety rules, safe systems of work and operational procedures.
  • Strong communication, customer service and problem‑solving skills.
  • IT literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Full UK driving licence.
