Key Responsibilities

  • Organise an engineering team and implement strategies to deliver efficient workflow within an industrial laundry processing plant.
  • Ensure all activities comply with Site Health and Safety instructions and the SSG Health and Safety manual and relevant engineering standards.
  • Maintain compliance records to an auditable standard.
  • Conduct regular assessment of energy measurables using trend data and respond promptly to deviations in line with CSR goals.
  • Provide input into continuous improvement of plant, machinery, and maintenance activities, identifying areas for improvement and suitable solutions.
  • Maintain company disciplines, rules, and standards, ensuring assets achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Order replacement parts and consumables while tracking and keeping budgets.
  • Report and investigate incidents, accidents or near misses in accordance with Health and Safety Policies.
  • Manage contractors on site, ensuring safety and adherence to Health and Safety rules and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with production staff and colleagues, ensuring daily handover of ongoing activities.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a manufacturing/process environment.
  • Proficient in both Electrical and Mechanical trades, including pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical circuits and ability to read relevant drawings/schematics.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage and influence people at all levels.
  • Self‑motivated with decisions and ability to react quickly to business needs.
  • Experience recording PPM and reactive data in a CMMS system and reporting statistics.
  • Logical approach to fault finding with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel to offsite training facilities and other group factories as required.

Desirable Skills & Knowledge

  • Experience managing a team of Engineers.
  • Industrial Laundry experience.
  • Steam systems and chemical water treatment – BG01 or BOAS accreditation.
  • Water network and heat recovery systems.
  • Electronic component fault finding and testing.
  • BS 7671/IET wiring regulations.
  • Inspection and Testing C&G 2391-52.
  • Mentoring apprentices and/or developing Engineers.
  • PTW risk assessor and contractor control.
  • Legionella control, ACOP L8.
  • Small to medium sized projects, 6 Sigma and Capex.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH.
