We have partnered with a scaling B2B SaaS business operating a high-volume, customer-facing platform, now entering its next phase of engineering maturity.
This isn’t a traditional Head of Engineering role.
This is about leading a modern software organisation where:
- DevOps is fully embedded into development
- AI is actively reshaping engineering productivity
- Performance is measured, understood, and continuously improved
They’re looking for a leader who understands that how software is built is just as important as what is built.
The Opportunity
You’ll lead a function of 40–50 engineers through a layer of experienced Engineering Managers, shaping the systems, processes, and culture required to scale effectively.
What You’ll Drive
- AI-enabled engineering practices. Exploring and embedding AI tools to improve developer productivity, code quality, and delivery speed.
- Modern DevOps as a core capability. Treating DevOps as a development responsibility, not a separate function, covering CI/CD, observability, infrastructure-as-code, and fast feedback loops.
- Engineering performance & metrics. Using DORA, flow metrics, and meaningful KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
- High-performing team structures. Creating autonomous, outcome-driven teams with clear ownership and accountability.
- Scalable engineering systems. Ensuring architecture, tooling, and process support growth without adding friction.
About You
- Proven senior leadership experience (Head of / Director / VP Engineering)
- Background as a software engineer / developer with strong technical credibility
- Experience building modern, DevOps-centric engineering environments
- Strong understanding of modern engineering performance metrics and optimisation
- Exposure to or active interest in AI’s role in software engineering
- Comfortable managing/leading managers and scaling teams beyond 30+
