The role
As a Quality Control Inspector – Structural, you'll support the Quality Manager to achieve project objectives and drive continuous improvement across the T31 project. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Develop strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Complete inspection reports in a timely manner.
- Update and communicate inspection metrics in line with daily activities.
- Carry out Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, or Ultrasonic Inspection of welds and components (where qualified).
- Conduct product verification audits and quality investigations on board ship.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Rosyth.
Essential experience
- In-depth understanding of Quality Control fundamentals.
- Ability to assess work carried out by production teams and subcontractors to assure quality and technical standards.
- Excellent knowledge of Quality Control requirements for naval warship construction and acceptance.
- Broad knowledge of warship construction and design, with sound judgement to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Knowledge and understanding of Measurement Management Systems and ISO10012.
Qualifications
- Qualified to a recognised trade standard (Fabrication/Welding/Shipwright/Marine Engineering) and relevant academic level (HNC/SVQ Level 3).
- CSWIP 3.1 or equivalent (AWS CWI/SCWI, CWB CWI Level 2/SCWI Level 3).
- Minimum PCN Level 2 in either MT or PT (desirable).
- Additional NDT or coatings inspection certifications are advantageous.
- IPAF preferable.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
