About the role

As our Test Lead, you will shape Riverford’s future by ensuring quality is built into every stage of the development lifecycle. You will report to the Director of Enterprise Solutions and play a key role in modernising our tech stack and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design testing and test‑automation approaches for complex enterprise systems (both off the shelf and in‑house).
  • Conduct manual and automated testing of systems, APIs, end‑to‑end integrations and event‑driven architectures.
  • Build quality gates into CI/CD pipelines and maintain test‑management tools.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, analysts, partners and other teams to embed testing practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Guide and support teams to include testing in their daily work, ensuring quality is a natural part of how we all work.
  • Champion a culture of quality across teams, influencing engineers and stakeholders without direct authority.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to design testing and test‑automation strategies for complex enterprise systems.
  • Hands‑on experience with test‑automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, automated quality gates, scripting and one or more test‑management tools.
  • Experience testing APIs, end‑to‑end system integrations and event‑driven architectures.
  • Ability to work in both agile and waterfall environments with excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Desired Experience and Skills

  • Experience with IFS or another major ERP platform; Oracle DB; Clojure or another functional programming language; hybrid cloud/on‑prem environments.
  • Sector experience in food and drink, retail, logistics or e‑commerce.
  • Relevant certifications such as ISTQB, ITIL or equivalent.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: Up to £55k per annum, depending on experience.

Benefits: 33 days holiday (pro‑rata including bank holidays), ethical and generous pension scheme, profit sharing (10% of all profits divided equally among co‑owners), discounted organic breakfasts and lunches, free organic fruit and veg to take home, free parking.

Location: Wash Farm, Buckfastleigh, Devon TQ11 0JU. Flexitime and hybrid working encouraged.

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with alternative working patterns possible.
