Role description
We are recruiting a Senior Project Manager for our UK Climate Adaptation team. The role involves managing a portfolio of Water, Civil Engineering, and Environment projects, with a strong focus on NEC4 contracts. You will oversee delivery from mobilisation through to close‑out, managing scope, programme, cost, risk, and quality to achieve measurable client outcomes, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to deliver transformational results.
Role accountabilities
- Project manage civil engineering, water, and environment projects using the NEC4 Professional Service Contract (PSC) and/or the Engineering and Construction Short Contract (ESCS), including contract administration in accordance with the role of the Service/Project Manager on NEC contracts.
- Collaborate with all stakeholders – clients, contractors, consultants, and third‑party parties – to ensure delivery is on time, within budget, and in accordance with the NEC contract administered.
- Provide high‑level advice and support to resolve issues during appraisal, ensuring decisions are made on sound technical grounds in line with best practice and required standards & timeframes.
- Monitor progress of work, identify risks, and implement timely resolution of issues to reallocate time, finance, and effort, thereby enhancing the service.
- Provide comprehensive management reporting on service delivery to support operational planning and business decisions.
- Lead or support project teams to deliver well‑planned and integrated solutions that progress change and improvement in the organisation, supporting the best environmental outcomes.
- Ensure effective leadership of health, safety, and wellbeing matters, actively promoting safety awareness and safe working practices.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in project management and PSC contract management, delivering complex projects in larger‑scale environments.
- Background in Civil Engineering, Water, Environment, or Infrastructure projects.
- Track record of leading integrated, multidisciplinary project management teams.
- Membership of a relevant professional body such as ICE, RICS, APM, or CIWEM.
- Desired: Flood Risk Management experience and/or a background within Civil Engineering.
