We are looking for a dedicated and professional Pest Control Officer to join our Commercial Pest Control Team to deliver a high‑quality pest control service to both residential and commercial customers across North Yorkshire. We are committed to protecting public health and maintaining a safe environment for residents and businesses.

You will play a vital role in protecting public health by investigating, managing and treating a wide range of pest issues, including rodents and insects, while delivering excellent customer service and representing the Council positively. You will be working as part of a professional team providing a high-quality commercial pest control service alongside supporting our statutory services promoting community well‑being.

About the Role

This is a van‑based role involving inspections, treatments, surveys and proofing works across domestic and commercial premises. You will work independently on a varied caseload while being part of a supportive team that values professionalism, continuous improvement and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out inspections and investigations of pest infestations in domestic and commercial properties
  • Provide effective treatments, control measures and preventative advice for a wide range of pests
  • Undertake proofing works to prevent pest access to buildings
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, including those who may be anxious or distressed
  • Provide estimates and advice for one‑off treatments and ongoing contracts in line with the Council’s fees
  • Ensure all work complies with health & safety legislation and COSHH requirements
  • Complete accurate records of inspections, treatments, materials used and associated risks
  • Monitor stock levels, order supplies and ensure safe disposal of waste
  • Support service development, marketing and income generation
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation and complete all mandatory CPD and training
  • Provide operational cover across North Yorkshire, including seasonal pressures and emergencies

What We’re Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working in a pest control role
  • RSPH Level 2 Certificate in Pest Management (or equivalent)
  • Sound knowledge of common pests and pest control methods
  • Strong face‑to‑face customer service skills
  • Ability to work calmly in challenging or stressful situations
  • Good problem‑solving and investigative skills
  • Knowledge of health and safety principles relating to pest control
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload
  • IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office
  • Full driving licence
  • Confident use of spoken and written English
